Blowing My Own Trumpet

I’ve spoken before about the absolute privilege it is to work with aged care staff. I love that education, in my case education about swallowing safety, empowers people whose job skills consequently, also become empowered. Recently many of those staff, after completing our Safe Swallowing Education Course, were generous enough to give us feedback. Here are just a short few:

“The Safe Swallowing Course is very good and sticks to the point of all that we need to know in aged care.”

“I have found the Course to be very good and very interesting. It is very useful to have this certificate (Course completion Certificate) especially in the industry of aged care. I recommend the swallowing course to everyone.” and

“It was a great refresher course for nursing staff and clears up a lot of info for the personal care worker and hospitality workers who may be unaware. Thank you for running it.”

There are limitless benefits to the rapidly increasing use of technology across all ages. Research into high usage suggests social isolation can be an unwanted ‘side effect’.

I read an interesting article a short while ago by Nick Burnett MD Team Teach Australia & New Zealand about minimising restrictive practices and reducing risk for all in aged care, but of course this can be implemented more widely.
